Savvasim Travel is a growing travel and tourism agency specializing in international holiday experiences, particularly European destinations. In October 2024, the agency aimed to expand its reach in the highly competitive US travel market, with a strong focus on families and group travelers based in New York.
The primary goal of this project was to design and execute a Facebook Ads campaign that could attract quality traffic, generate genuine inquiries, and position Savvasim Travel as a reliable option for European holiday packages. Instead of running generic promotions, the campaign needed to communicate trust, affordability, and value for families planning group trips.
As a Social Media Ads specialist, my responsibility was to create a performance-driven advertising strategy that aligned with user intent, seasonal travel interest, and platform behavior. The project required strategic audience research, creative ad development, precise targeting, and continuous optimization to ensure the Ads delivered measurable results within a limited timeframe.
This portfolio project demonstrates how a well-planned Facebook Ads campaign can drive awareness, engagement, and conversions for a travel agency, even with a controlled budget.
Running Ads for the travel industry always comes with unique challenges, especially when targeting a mature and highly aware audience like families in New York. Below are the key obstacles faced during this project:
1. Highly Competitive Ads Market
The travel and tourism sector is one of the most competitive industries on Facebook Ads. Large brands and OTAs were already running aggressive Ads with high daily budgets, making it difficult to stand out organically and through paid reach.
2. Audience Trust & Decision Time
European travel packages are high-consideration purchases. Families typically research multiple options before making a decision. This meant the Ads needed to build trust quickly while encouraging users to take action.
3. Budget Sensitivity
The campaign had a moderate budget, so every dollar spent on Ads had to be optimized for maximum return. There was no room for wasted impressions or poorly targeted traffic.
4. Short Campaign Window
The campaign needed to deliver results within a short period, which required fast testing, quick data analysis, and real-time optimizations.
To overcome these challenges, I developed a structured and data-driven Facebook Ads strategy tailored specifically to Savvasim Travel’s goals and audience.
1. Strategic Campaign Planning
The first step was defining a clear Ads objective aligned with the business goal. Instead of focusing only on reach or engagement, the campaign was structured to drive website traffic and inquiries, ensuring measurable business value.
2. Audience Research & Segmentation
I created detailed audience profiles based on:
Location: New York
Demographics: Families and adults interested in group travel
Interests: Travel, European destinations, family vacations, holiday planning
Behaviors: Frequent travelers and online booking users
To ensure better performance, the audience was split into multiple segments and tested through separate ad sets. This allowed us to identify which audience responded best to the Ads.
3. Ad Creative Development
Four unique Facebook Ads were designed, each with:
High-quality visuals reflecting European travel experiences
Clear messaging highlighting group-friendly offers
Emotion-driven copy appealing to families planning vacations together
Strong call-to-action encouraging users to explore packages or inquire
The Ads were created to feel informative and inspiring rather than overly promotional, which helped improve engagement and trust.
4. Ad Copy Optimization
Each Ads copy focused on:
Value and convenience of group travel
Special deals for families
Ease of planning European holidays
Professional and trustworthy brand tone
Different variations of headlines and primary text were tested to identify the most effective messaging.
5. Continuous Monitoring & Optimization
Throughout the campaign, I actively monitored:
Click-through rate (CTR)
Cost per click (CPC)
Engagement metrics
Website traffic behavior
Based on performance data, I optimized the Ads by:
Adjusting audience targeting
Pausing underperforming creatives
Allocating budget to high-performing ad sets
Refining ad copy for better relevance
This optimization process ensured that the Ads delivered consistent results within the campaign duration.
The Facebook Ads campaign delivered strong and meaningful outcomes for Savvasim Travel:
Noticeable increase in website traffic from New York-based users
Higher engagement on Ads compared to previous campaigns
Multiple quality inquiries from families interested in European packages
Improved brand visibility within the target market
Most importantly, the campaign demonstrated that even with a controlled budget, a well-executed Ads strategy can generate real business interest and long-term value for a travel agency.
Facebook Ads were ideal because they allow precise audience targeting based on location, interests, and behaviors. For a travel agency targeting families in New York, Facebook provided the best balance between reach, cost-efficiency, and engagement.
A total of four custom Ads were created, each with unique visuals and messaging. This allowed effective A/B testing and helped identify which creatives performed best.
The primary goal was to increase website traffic and generate genuine inquiries from families interested in European holiday packages, rather than just gaining likes or followers.
The budget was managed by continuously monitoring performance metrics and reallocating spend to high-performing ad sets, ensuring minimal waste and maximum ROI.
Yes, the strategy is scalable and adaptable. With proper audience research and creative customization, similar Ads frameworks can be applied to other travel and tourism businesses.
